4th May 2013
Windsurfing: Felixstowe Fludyers
Wind Direction: WSW
Wind Stength: 5-15-20-5kts
Surf / Sea State: Bumpy choppy
Air Temperature: cool
Sea Temperature: ok
Weather: Sunny then rain
Max Speed: 24.7 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 8.5 Nm (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

Sailed at my least favourite location the Fludyers, but incoming tide (midday) made it safe but it was a bumpy ride all afternoon. 10 or so sailors out when I arrived – lord Swain sailed early and left.
Rigged 7.2M Hellcat / 146 JP Excite ride and just went to launch, when freshened from around 15kts to over 20kts and sailors were coming to change down.
Bollicks – back up to the trailer rigged 6.2M Hellcat / 120L JP Excite ride and the poxy wind died completely, just as I tried to launch, everyone was crawling back and the wind went offshore. Double Bollicks and I still haven’t sailed!!
Fortunately I have the dogged windsurfers patience and optimism? Alistair said “don’t worry it will be back..) Still not wet yet, I frikin hoped so.
30 mins later it swung round and started filling in, had several runs on the 7.0M then it really kicked in so down to the already rigged 6.0 nice. Happy now, the puzzle comes together :)
All sailors had a good time, but it was bumpy. The 146L/7.0M was pretty uncomfortable in the bumpy conditions, although should have dropped the 50cm fin to 44cm. Even the 120L wasn’t that nice and I always had to work hard on both boards, knackering me. Fortunately I didn’t drop a gybe so lasted slightly longer but still knackered. Pete did me for speed clocking 26+ kts to my 24.7 kts.
Packed up around 4.00 ish because, it started swinging and easing. Should have packed up slightly earlier when Maker did because as he hook up his trailer the heavens opened up and it pissed down - and I was drench with in my normal clothes still packing up – 2 rigs and boards - bollickkkkkkkkksssss another 10 minutes and I would have been in the cosy van!
Not a bad day though – had a oner on Dawn Approach (NM 2K Guineas) at 2/1 :) nice for the Banky Holi’s.
